The Suzuki Fronx is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Suzuki since 2023. It is based on the Suzuki Baleno platform and slots below the Suzuki Brezza in Suzuki's lineup.
Design and Features:
The Fronx features a coupe-style rear with a tilted tailgate, differentiating it from the Baleno hatchback. Compared to the Baleno, the Fronx has a raised bonnet, reshaped body panels, and forward-tilted rear pillars. It offers a 308-litre boot, slightly smaller than the Baleno's due to a raised loading floor, and increased ground clearance of 210 mm, achieved through modified suspension and larger 195/60 R16 tyres.

The Fronx is available with multiple engine options:
1.0L K10C Boosterjet Turbo Petrol Engine: Produces 99 horsepower and 147.6 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
1.2L K12N Dualjet Petrol Engine: Generates 89 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
1.5L K15C Petrol Engine with Mild Hybrid System: Delivers 102 horsepower and 137 Nm of torque. This variant is available with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Variants and Pricing:
In India, the Fronx is offered in five variants: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. The Sigma, Delta, and Delta+ variants are equipped with the 1.2L petrol engine, while the Zeta and Alpha variants come with the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine. Pricing for the Fronx starts at approximately ₹7.14 lakh for the base variant.
The Fronx has been introduced in various international markets:
India: Launched in April 2023, the Fronx has seen significant sales, with over 94,000 units sold in 2023.
South Africa: Launched in August 2023, available in GL and GLX trims with the 1.5L K15B petrol engine.
Japan: Introduced in July 2024, imported from India, featuring advanced driver-assistance systems and a four-wheel-drive option.
The Fronx is also sold under the Toyota brand in certain markets:
India: Rebadged as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, launched in April 2024, featuring design tweaks like a different grille and lighting elements.
South Africa: Sold as the Toyota Starlet Cross, replacing the previous Urban Cruiser model.
